This is a Fidlock magneto-mechanical buckle which uses a combination of magnets and mechanical features to produce a strong and light buckle. The buckle separates in two by pulling the two parts sideways and one end has a single bar for webbing and the other has a ladderlock-style two-bar design so that webbing can be attached in an adjustable fashion if required.
